This is not a movie that youd recommend somebody five years from now, but is a comedy, musical, heist (half baked), patriotic (pseudo) and a revenge drama rolled into one, with loads of typical masala bollywood entertainment quotient for a stress busting family outing in the ongoing festive season. Farah Khan - SRK combos last outing, Om Shanti Om, was zany, wacky and quirky, which this one again tries to be, but succeeds only in patches. Theres not much acting skill required by any of the principal actors for me to be commenting upon, but Shahrukh ably carries much of the workload and Deepika and Abhishek show good screen presence. Its more about the opulent look & grand scale and a fast paced reasonably engaging narrative. The movie is 20 mins too long and music is a major letdown with no song with any sort of shelf life. Thankfully, apart from the last 15 mins, its not one of those movies which take itself too seriously. I personally prefer SRK of Swades, Chak De and My Name Is Khan, but then all of us have our rat races to compete in.....
