This is not my day to bake, evidently. I had some sugar spice pecans in the oven; theyre supposed to be turned every ten minutes. I sat down, started reading, and forgot about them. Yeah, theyre mostly okay, but they got turned at twenty minutes instead of ten. Then I made an ooey-gooey butter cake, which calls for a stick of melted butter in the filling. I melted the butter, and left it in the microwave. I made the filling, poured it on top of the crust, and put it in the oven -- then remembered looked around for the measuring cup the butter was in so I could wash it out, and couldnt find it. Yep -- still in the microwave. I grabbed the cake out of the oven and tried to pour off the batter so I could mix in the butter. Nope; the crust started sliding out too. There was nothing else I could do but simply pour the melted butter on top of the filling then use a fork to mix it in as best I could, without disturbing the bottom crust. Well see. It passed the taste test, but the texture may be a tad off. Next up: I was making sausage/cheese croissant roll-ups. Theyre supposed to bake for 15 minutes. In the meantime I put a pot roast on to cook, and forgot about the roll-ups until theyd been in the oven 25 minutes. The first pan was beyond saving. The second pan, which cooked 5 fewer minutes, was a little too done but not bad. Hubby went to the grocery store and picked up two more rolls of croissants for me, and Ill start on those again in a few hours. Im not about to start cooking anything else right now.; the odds are against me. Oh -- and I let the water for the pot roast boil over. Im blaming it all on the time changing. Stars above, just leave the time alone! Dont change it! But dont leave it on DST, either, because if I wanted to be on Eastern time Id move to Georgia. Cranky Linda (Linda H.)
