This is one is especially for ex-SFR Yugoslavia diplomat and ex Rep Macedonia Ambassador Risto Nikovski, in case he forgot who started the war in the former Yugoslavia and who had an anti-Macedonian agenda: MILOSEVICS 1989 SPEECH AT GAZIMESTAN - There has been in recent years an attempt to whitewash or to paint as innocent Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic over his leading role in the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991 because of the US/EU/NATOs subsequent nasty behaviour over Kosovo in 1999 and Macedonia in 2001. We believe that three wrongs dont make a right: that the US/EU/NATOs subsequent wrong behaviour doesnt let Milosevic off the hook for starting the war. Ironically, if he had allowed the other republics to leave peacefully, he would have kept Kosovo and probably Montenegro (Crna Gora). He gambled in playing off the US against the Russians and simply lost at high stakes political poker when his allies, Yeltsins Russia, abandoned him in 1999. In 1989 in Gazimestan, Kosovo, then SFR Yugoslavia Milosevic made a fiery speech and in effect sealed Yugoslavias fate. Milosevic, playing the historical victim card which is now being pushed by Belgrade Cafe conspiracy theorists including major proponent Boris Malagurski, made the absurd and offensive claim that: Serbs have never in the whole of their history conquered and exploited others. Their national and historical being has been liberational throughout the whole of history and through two world wars, as it is today. They liberated themselves and when they could they also helped others to liberate themselves. The quote is in Serbian and can be heard at the 7.27 minute mark of this clip. Milosevic, either he was ignorant of his own history or lied, failed to mention that Serbia, alongside Greece and Bulgaria, did in fact conquer and exploit others...Macedonia in 1912-13...as well as the denial of Macedonian identity during the Serbo-Yugoslav monarchy of 1919-1941... During the later stages of World War II - 1944-45: at the Syrmian Front (Sremski Front) 25,000 Macedonian partizans were sent to help Serbia fight the Germans. A fact now written out of the Serbian media. No major Serb or Yugoslav partizan units ever came to Macedonias assistance from 1941-44 as it resistence army the National Liberation Army of Macedonia (NOVM), an uneasy alliance of communists and nationalists, fought the Germans, pro-Axis Bulgarians, Italians and Albanian Bale Kombetar (Balisti). After WWII, the Macedonian communists, at the instigation of Tito and Belgrade, then turned on their allies the Macedonian nationalists, imprisoning leader Metodija Andonov-Cento on false charges during an infamous show trial in 1946. You might say this is old history...but a people who forget their history are condemned to relive it...A people that is lazy with its language or words, will be lazy with its economy... All are connected. You then have people going to other extremes where they have bought the controversial Bulgarian thesis repackaged as Todorovskism. All of this comes from forgetting your history and allowing others to do the thinking for you, as youre too busy jumping on Skopje cafe tables dancing to the likes of turbo folk stars such as Ceca and Azis... youtube/watch?v=p8QwHrRzpeo
