This is one of the more disturbing events of the past week, and it begs our collective conscience to reconsider the implementation of death penalty at all. Given that nearly 1 out of 3 of those persons executed has later been found to have been innocent, and railroaded by overly zealous prosecutors, I oppose capital punishment, in favor of dropping these people off on an island with a bag of seeds and a hoe, and leaving them to fend for themselves (along with other criminals). If someone is later discovered to have been innocent, we can un-do that. Jefferson had thought it through when he so famously stated, Better 1,000 guilty should go free; than even one innocent should hang
