This is one of the most descriptive accountings Ive read of what if feels like to have lived a life betrayed at a level that to me, has no equal, and to live it for such a very long time. If you havent experienced it, you cant possibly feel it, or understand it. In order to portray the life we lived, as it was, rather than to attempt to put a spin on it that cleaned it up, made it not so bad, more normal, I had to have much help. I found myself wanting to defend and deny so much. Why? Because I had been convinced that I shouldnt consider it so bad, I was a lucky woman, married to a good man. Thats what relationships like this do. There are those that believe this nonsense. No one would ever encourage their daughters or sisters or friends to accept such treatment if they knew everything that was happening to us was happening to them, but we will tell ourselves its not so bad. How sad... You have to have a background that prepares you to be vulnerable to this type of person drawing you in to them, and I did, but we cant blame someone else for actions that another that has the ability and the will to do and chooses to. We can have a whole lot of should haves, would haves, and could haves, but the bottom line still is this person made choices and took actions that manipulated us and influenced our decisions via deceit.
