This is one of those What do you think? questions, but its occurred to me more than once: Whats the minimum element you need in order for something to represent Cthulhu? A lot of people think a squid or octopus is enough. Some think anything with tentacles is enough, and surely, there are a lot of tentacles in the Mythos. For me, a humanoid face with tentacles at the mouth is my minimum. Wings on a squid also seem pretty representative of Cthulhu. That all said, I once wrote a micro story about Cthulhu which essentially argues that any representation of Cthulhu (or any GOO, Elder God, etc.) actually has no basis in fact, and is merely the human mind trying desperately to comprehend a multi-dimensional being whose form has nothing to do with the physics we base our lives on. So the observers define what they see as eyes, tentacles, legs, arms and wings, when instead if you did see Cthulhu, none of those elements actually exist in any way we could understand them. But that... is a different discussion.
