This is one reason I have come to dislike Horse racing and the celebration of the Melbourne Cup. Its a barbaric industry run for the pleasure of humans at the expense of Horses. Horses can be whipped up to 10 times in the last 100 meters and despite what jockeys tell you the horse probably doesnt like it. Thousands of horses are destroyed every year because their legs arent big enough, they dont look fast enough or whatever. Very, very few make it to the Horse racing stables and even so few of them are good enough to make it to the Melbourne Cup. If they are lucky enough to make it the cup theyll be pushed hard beyond whats good for them and what would be a basic injury for a human is life ending for these majestic horses. A horse good enough to make it to one of the Worlds premier races should be treated like a champion.
