This is pathetic. This is a perfect opportunity and day of representation for the gay community, and people abuse this day for their own careless, reckless and selfish behaviors. I am sure this is not what the gay community wanted for representation. Where do they get this idea that being selfishly reckless is ok at a parade? I attended this in 2011 and 2012 and noted the terrible behavior seen in the streets while the parade was happening and, watched even worse behaviors after the parade. It was really sad to watch people act like wild animals and forget they are in neighborhoods where people live and where businesses thrive. I was actually a bit scared for my own safety and health, and decided to not attend anymore, just because of how people throw water from rooftops and windows, plus bottles and other things, and be so carelessly and publicly drunk. To watch people walk through the entire crowd with their own nasty sweaty and poor hygiene in the open streets was really an eye-opener for me. I dont want somebodys spit, urine and/or sweatiness on me as I pass through the crowd trying to enjoy the event. It was truly scary and I left disappointed, even when I tried to make the best of it all. You cant ignore ignorance that stands out so vividly. I hate to say this, but it sounds like this parade may need to be cancelled to make people understand that you still need to act civilized while representing the true nature of the parade and event. Represent yourselves proudly so that others have a reason to respect the gay community. Dont add to the terrible stigmata that already exists. I am seriously disappointed to read that people think this behavior is ok and their own reason to conduct so poorly for this community. Come on, guys and gals, you can do much better than this! Hetros and gays, help the gay community get the respect it needs, dont use this day for your own careless partying reasons.
