This is probably going to be the sort of post that worries people unnecessarily, but I feel like writing it so there ya go... I do wonder how much you can flirt with darkness before it decides to make a claim on you. Those of you whove read my writing know that its pretty dark. And while I do have a very goofy side, my general sense of humor and aesthetics tends toward the dark. Id like to think that this is just my way of dealing with things ... that I play with it as a release valve. By the same token, I cant help but look at Poe, Lovecraft, and R.E. Howard and see where it took them. Likewise with comedians. Its almost cliche to observe that humor/comedy is tragedy and anger that is twisted around and made funny. As I said, this is not a cry of distress or anything of the sort. I dont drink habitually and Ive never so much as had a cigarette. Christina still has to push me to take so much as a Tylenol. I also think of myself as happy in my own twisted way. Still, I cant help but notice that those who play with the dark cant always bring themselves back into the light.
