This true, tragic story is the reason to oppose all Democrats for all offices, because it is their party that favors this kind of tactic in our courts. It is the Democrats - and the Democrats alone - who seek to turn the 5th amendment on its head, warping the rules of evidence and court procedure to give an undue edge to the criminal vs. the victim.
