This is significant because the Christian Sect did not pay any attention to Jesus during his lifetime. There was no contemporaneous written evidence of his life and the Gospels were written 60 years after his death by people who did not know him and were not witnesses. So, as part of their invention of Christ, they had to guess his date of birth, and were off by three years (some say four based on analysis of the biblical story).
