This is something I would usually post on my personal page, but find it appropriate to post here. As you probably know, I am a Spotify user (I post links to stuff all the time, create playlists, have a verified account, etc..) and think its a great way to discover new music. But I also agree wholeheartedly with the author of this piece on the whole Taylor Swift / Spotify affair ......and what it really says about societys general feelings about art, art creation and specifically music. Regardless of what you think about Taylor Swift and her music, this effects everyone creating art who is trying to do it to be able to put food on the table. As a producer, label owner and educator I really value the music I enjoy as art and hope that this whole situation at least sheds some kind of light on the struggles of being an artist in the current market climate. I dont really have one particular stance on the issue, or any kind of philosophical prophecy (ha) or statement, but I just felt like sharing this piece with all of you. (btw... ignore the video on that page... it has nothing to do with the printed piece.)
