This is such a tragic Story. -- Longford man dies in New York boating tragedy The body of a missing Irishman, believed to be thirty year old Mark Lennon, originally from Longford, has been found after a boating tragedy in New York which also claimed the life of a bride to be. Lindsey Stewart also died in the accident in which her future husband Brian Bond was injured. The couple were due to be married in two weeks. The group were travelling in a speedboat which collided into a construction barge on New York’s Hudson’s River on Friday. Mr. Lennon’s body was found yesterday. The bodies have not yet been formally identified. Thirty five year old Jojo John, who was operating the boat, was charged with vehicular manslaughter and three counts of vehicular assault from a hospital bed where he was recovering from his injuries. It is suspected that John was intoxicated at the time of the crash and are awaiting the results of blood tests. Mr. Lennon’s father Kevin is believed to have emigrated from Drumlish in Longford in the late 70s, and the family made their home in Pearl River in New York. By Audrey Healy
