This is the Paul Hayne Grammar School.What is unusual about the photo is the Highland Trolley out front. The first car would have been called the Dummy Line car...it is towing two open-air trolleys. I did not know that Birmingham had open-air trolleys as I have never seen a photo of one., so I researched it. As it turns out...Birmingham had several of these...they were used primarily for routes that went to the suburbs - which, in those days meant Avondale, Lakeview, East Lake, etc. They had canvas sides that could be rolled up when it was particularly warm outside or let down when it was raining. I assume they were not used at all in cold weather.
