This is the Takin. The National Animal of Bhutan. Takins attract attention due to their unusual appearance. Like a goat-antelope. They look like a beast made up of mixed animal parts. The Takins nose is long like a moose, horns look like a wildebeest’s, body is bison shaped, it has a bearlike tail, and mountain goat feet and agility. Males weigh up to 630 kgs, females a third less. Legend says that the Takin was created by the Divine Madman in the 15th century. Motithang Takin Preserve, Thimphu, Bhutan.
