This is the ignorant mind set of Republican political advisers and strategists. The reason they hate Reagan so much is that they are pro government con artists working in the Party opposed to big government. They are the masters of persuading Republican officials to propose government giveaways to buy votes from slivers of the electorate who want something from govenrment. Just like the corrupt political advisors of the Democrats, they do not believe in anything except political power. It is all about positioning your campaign to get elected. And since they have no permanent political positions (any more than they have any permanent integrity) they will do or say anything to get anyone elected. So of course they despise Reagan. Reagan was all about principles based on freedom from government abuses. That insults the very essence of their reason to exist.
