This is the poem I wrote on Saturday (08/16) when I arrived home after having our coffee get together. Im not a poet, but it just all came to me!! Once in awhile I can do this. I titled it ~ SHS 45th Class Reunion Our Night The 45th Reunion weekend it did arrive at last, we gals started on Friday noon and told stories about the past. We laughed and we giggled at the Rock Falls Candle Light Inn, Im sure the waitresses thought we sounded like a bunch of old hens! On Friday evening at 5:30 at Cochrans we did meet, some of us a bit nervous of who we would see and greet. For our bodies are quite different now, gravity did a shift, our hair has grayed or perhaps is gone, and we walk a little stiff. We didnt look the same, but were challenged to figure out who, was that person of yesteryear that we long ago knew. We did a lot of talking and laughing and guessing who people were, sometimes wed asked another who is that in that chair? Saturday morning at Air Play some of us made a stop, a nice group gathered for beverages and pastries at Tims coffee shop. Again we talked and laughed and more stories told, we thanked Tim for his hospitality and especially his scones! And now tonight has come they say the best is last, we hope you will enjoy some good memories of our school days past. We meet at Blue Goose thanks to Kurt for such a nice place, Im sure hes been busy cooking all day and we all did have a taste! Now Gary brought his jukebox to take us back in time, all you need to do is press the button, you dont even have to spend a dime. So as we enjoy ourselves tonight feel honored that you came, for it was in June of 1969 that are lives all begin to change. God Bless you friends and classmates and as you leave this place tonight, drive safe back to your families and getting to your flights.
