This is the real Grand Bargain. Anyone willing to take side bets on what this all looks like once they have agreed to the debates, if they do? We deserve them. Democracy deserves them. And there has to be a media trainer or twelve that would love some time with Snyder training him how to talk out of both sides of his mouth with greater ease. And hey, Governor, I have been a Media Trainer for politicians for almost twenty years now and even through I have my own campaign to run and win I would be more than happy to train you on debating our next Governor. Ill even do it pro bono(wink, wink!). I have just put that on my agenda. Schauer Campaign Proposes Debates With Snyder Calls for five debates: four with Snyder, one with LG candidates MACKINAC ISLAND – Today, following a letter sent nine days ago without a response, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer is publicly proposing a series of televised debates with Republican Governor Rick Snyder. Schauer called for the first debate to take place in August, the second in September, and the final two in October, with at least one debate televised statewide on Michigan’s PBS affiliates. Additionally, Schauer proposed one debate between the candidates for Lt. Governor. “Voters deserve an opportunity to hear from both candidates directly about our respective visions for Michigan,” said Schauer. “I believe five debates, including at least one between our running mates, will help voters make informed choices this November. We look forward to working with Governor Snyder’s campaign to finalize a debate schedule in the coming weeks.” The Schauer campaign mailed a letter to Snyder campaign manager Kyle Robertson on Monday, May 19 inviting the Governor’s team to discuss specific terms for debates.
