This is to inform Sierra Leoneans and the numerous supporters of His Excellency Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana around the world that His Excellency the vice president of the Republic of Sierra Leone remains the vice president of the country until 2017/2018, whichever is the earliest. This announcement is to counteract the lies peddled around by certain people that His Excellency the vice president has resigned from office. The lies are deliberate attempt to distract attention and test our resolve as supporters of this fine gentleman. We ask the public not to entertain the rumour is falsehood and deception at the highest level. His Excellency the vice president has no such plans, he is committed to nation building and he will see out his full term of office has required by the constitution of Sierra Leone. Despite the recent troubles in our country to ensure its credibility and protect its reputation the Sierra Leone Bar Association has come out in full force to defend the rule of law as required by our constitution and promulgated by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Right. I am not legally entitled to comment on the current case as it is a matter for the courts of law. His Excellency the vice president did not wake up one morning and walk to State House and became the vice president; he was voted on the same ticket with president Koroma. Any opportunities and liberties the president is entitled to under our constitution, the vice president is entitled to the same opportunities and liberties. For some reason the constitution is being disrupted and the vice president is denied his entitlement as the second gentleman of this nation. This brings me to two questions; what is democracy; and why do we have a constitution? In short democracy is for the people, by the people and of the people. If we claim to be a democratic nation we have to practice the basic tenets of democracy. The constitution of course is a legal document that no matter what the circumstances are it must be honoured safe for state of emergency The vice president believes in the constitution as it is the legal document designed for the correct interpretation of our political dispensation, the equal treatment of the citizenry, protection and promotion of human right as stated and defined under the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Against this back drop no amount of pressure, disrespect or conspiracy can force the vice president to change his stance on law and order, human right protection, the rule of law and the constitution of this nation, let alone resign from office. Therefore amidst the rancour, the conspiracy and the threat His Excellency the vice president is resolute and determined to see his full term out as defined in our constitution. Our appeal to every man and woman and the youths of our great nation be steadfast and continue to support the vice president as the next president of Sierra Leone. Have no fear in doing so as Sierra Leoneans and the world are watching us. The vice president is the man that will make you enjoy your constitution, your rights as humans where everyone will be treated equally with no strings attached. He will create a society with strong social fabric where you as a Sierra Leonean will realise your potential and feel belonging. In short it is the people first and not the other way round as it widespread in our society today. Power to The People.
