This is what I get for thinking I could leave work early and have an extra hour to wind down and spend time with the animals...I get home...make some dinner...enjoy it...and then we go outside....and now that friends is where the fun begins...we head outside to the shed....me of course beating derrick...at first I thought I might be hallucinating...I thought I was hearing guineas inside the shed...which is possible since the birds like to go directly into the shed when you let them out of the coop...so I look around as Im scooping food...at one point I was pretty sure I heard the flutter of wings over my head...I had just about decided I should seek expert help when derrick finally makes it outside and asks me in an odd questioning voice why my special colored baby guinea is out...I come bolting out of the shed eager to reclaim my sanity and sure enough there chatters my special tan colored baby guinea...not in its cage...so while I stare in bewilderment soaking in the situation derrick brilliantly walks over to the chicken mansion only to reveal that all the rest of my white baby guineas....are nowhere in sight...now...I am quite proud of these cute newly acquired birds...so you can imagine the utter panic and disappointment that shot through me...so I grab another cage and place it on top of my favorite little bird and begin to gather my thoughts...maybe I can find them all??? I mean how hard could It be to locate little white birds...so I start walking and listening...sure enough the little idiots could not keep quiet...I walk to the other side of the pond and was walking back and forth under the trees trying to locate the source of my noisy little bird...until I realize...that stinking little bird is a skilled flyer and is now at the near top of a tree...😬...happy I found what is now two of eight little birds and yet equally frustrated that their wings have proven to be so developed we begin thinking of ways on how to get it down....derrick begins throwing random sticks at it hoping to knock it out of the tree... just a few throws he does successfully knock it out of the tree...only for it to do a 180 and fly directly into...yep...another much bigger tree....derrick proceeds to throw things at it for 10- 15 fifteen minutes...now getting frustrated he is requesting a bb gun...to which I said no...so I finally walk off in search of the others...I walk back to the house and search high and low...with no more little birds in sight...Im working my way back out into the pasture when derrick yells in triumph that the bird is out...only to have lost it in tall grass..I begin helping him again and get side tracked by the horses jumping around and another little bird noise...so I leave derrick and wander over until I find four...yep four more little guineas...and now where do they run???right into five foot tall grass...now derrick and I are both neck deep digging around for surprisingly camouflaged white birds in ridiculous green grass....you have never truly lived until you have chased 8 teeny tiny white guineas through 13 acres of grass up to your chest...we managed to find and capture seven of the eight...which I figured is not too bad...
