This is what I have and it sucks! Hashimoto’s disease is the most common cause, and accounts for 90% of hypothyroidism cases in the US. Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune diseases where your own body attacks your thyroid gland which results in inflammation and an underactive underproducing thyroid gland. It is more commonly diagnosed in middle-aged women but also occurs in men, women, and children of all ages. Hypothyroidism has been called a ‘silent epidemic’ as many sufferers go years without proper diagnosis as symptoms can appear vague and can mimic other conditions. Most common symptoms include: Extreme fatigue Brain fog Slow heart rate Mood swings Depression Unexplainable weight gain or difficulties in losing weight Constipation Chills in extremities Sensitive to cold Sugar cravings Dry skin Changes in the menstrual cycle Swelling of the thyroid gland (goiter)
