[This is what I meant yesterday about de-linking caste hegemony and control vis a vis untouchability. Read it to understand how it has been century long project of upper caste hindus to delink both and promote untouchability only as a social evil that need to be fought against while keeping everything intact. And you think only Modi is a Hindutva Project. Gandhi would have remained a lowly baniya eccentric lawyer not a Mahatma and Father of Nation without such vigorous defence of brahminism. Modi might fail one day but Gandhi remains the most successful brahmin project in history] Untouchability was a heinous crime,however it was a excrescence that had nothing to do with caste, caste system was not a human invention. It was an immutable law of nature. It is not a system based on inequality nor is it hierarchical in structure. Hindus who truly believe in reincarnation and transmigration, must know that if a brahmin misbehaves, nature will adjust the balance by relegating him into a lower division in life through reincarnation.
