This is what happened in parliament. My Story today about the NA session :p The whole of the national assembly resolved to stand by the prime minister for the preservation of the democratic system after the government’s commitment to not sway from the parliamentary resolutions during their negotiations with Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan. In a breakthrough parliamentary session, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif rubbished speculation that the government had requested the armed forces to negotiate with protestors laying siege to the red zone. He said that Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri had sought the meetings with the Pakistan Army themselves, and only after seeking permission from the Prime Minister, was General Raheel Sharif allowed interacting with them. He said that after suffering arrests and exile, and the democratic struggles of the Long Marches of yesteryears, there was no question of him ever taking a U turn on the democratic principles which could not be sacrificed at any cost. Before the Prime Minister, Interior Minister Chaudry Nisar took the floor and spoke at length about the role of the Army in the current political crisis. He said, it was only due to the pressure of Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri that the Pakistan Army was stuck in Islamabad in aid of civil power, at a time when they are more needed in the North Waziristan Agency for Operation Zarb e Azb. He said the army is not conducting negotiations, but only playing the role of a mediator in the background on the insistence of the Marchers, who he felt were consistently putting the Army in a compromising position. Khurshid Shah, Leader of the opposition expressed his shock at the events of yesterday, and called the Information wing of the Pakistan Army to immediately issue a clarification in the form of a press release to publicly reveal their complete role and involvement in the negotiations with the marchers. He said that the parliamentarians are democratic, have suffered themselves, and sacrificed countless leaders and if democracy is ever challenged by anti democratic forces, to stand firm and never flinch. He put his complete support behind the Prime Minister and said that even if the government backs down in front of the Anti democratic forces, the Pakistan People’s party never would. He said if Imran Khan and Qadri wanted storm parliament and burn it down, then let them come, and do as they please, and even burn down the Federal Capital, but in the aftermath they would be held accountable by the people of Pakistan for derailing democracy and for desecrating the constitution. Furthermore, Iftikharuddin the only parliamentarian from former President Pervez Musharaf’s party, the All Pakistan Muslim League also spoke to the house and put his full support behind parliament, referring the protestors outside as a mob attempting to steal the people’s mandate. Mahmood Khan Achakzai of the PkMap also called for an end to the misinformation being circulated through the private media about the current political crisis, pointing out that the respect of the parliament was compromised when the media wrongly suggested that the Army Chief had intervened in matters on the so called request of the Prime Minister and the political establishment. Parliamentarians also chose not to take part in the main Friday congregation at the National Assembly, instead taking part in a second congregation to extend the parliament session in view of the political crisis at hand.
