This is why intersectionality matters. In 2003, I learned from my South African brothers and sisters from the Anti Water privatization movement at a World Bank protest. They were nonviolent activists who illegally re-connected peoples homes to Water Services after the government had sold Water Rights to multinational corporations. Cut to years later when many Alabama utility companies shut off water services and electricity to undocumented people for fear of running afoul of anti immigrant laws that barred public service utilities from interacting with undocumented migrants. Now, Detroit is just being straight up honest about its classism: if youre too poor to pay for water, too bad. Have we dehumanized ourselves to such an extent? Have we forgotten that we are connected? Capitalism is a hell of a drug... Mystified by the cruelty on display. #worldcitizenquestions. #waterIsARight #HealthCareIsARight
