This is why we cant have nice things. The problem isnt Jim - TopicsExpress

This is why we cant have nice things. The problem isnt Jim Gordon trying to solve crime and save Gotham. Thats what it supposed to look like, but the real problem is can Jim Gordon save himself from becoming part of Gotham? Its a question of how an idealistic cop descends into hell and retains his sanity and morality and ethics in the face of evil itself. You want to do a Gotham story? Model it after Dantes Inferno. Each season, the hell of Gotham city gets worse and worse. The McGuffin that he chases deeper and deeper into hell is his own sense of what is right and wrong. Hes fighting to hang onto his own sense justice. But the end of the show will twist, because it wont be the devil that Jim finds at the end of his journey. It will be the Batman. His faith will be rewarded. With Gordons help the Dark Knight will rise, bringing Gotham city and Jim Gordon out of hell with him. But we already know that story. The one thing those commenters are correct about is that we shouldnt be seeing all of Batmans foes before Batman. Those are his story, theyre not Jim Gordons story. But the problem isnt whether or not Jim Gordon can solve their crimes, the problem is that they are even there in the first place. Gotham is a great idea, and a great story to be told, if they would quit relying on Batman for everything like DC always does. Stop trying to rely on name dropping the Penguin, the Riddler, and Catwoman, and instead start writing good cop stories in a fallen city. Write around Bruce and Batman in a way that makes sense, not in a way that tries to Retcon the guys Batman will be facing later. Why am I not writing this crap?
