This is without a doubt my favourite location EVER! It is the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. AKA the Bolivian Salt Flats. We were there in the spring of this year, and Bolivia per se was one of the hardest most gruelling third world countries I have ever visited. The very high altitude was difficult to cope with (half the height of Everest) and the food was inedible. It was indeed a hard shoot all round. I speak fluent Spanish however, so meeting, and understanding the people was a wonderful experience, made easier by my speaking the lingo. This image was captured at 5 am, when the temperature was below -0! My poor guide, who is my model was shivering so much that I gave him my gloves and scarf. But Guys, to be alone with just Fernando, in the vast salt flat, at sunrise, was one of the most exhilarating and uplifting experiences I have ever had.
