This is without doubt, the most outright bizarre project I ever created. A Black Metal fever-dream with the illusion of a narrative, hybridized with the influences of Stan Brakhage, William Blake, and pre-war Russian filmmaking. This pushed the limits of conceptual low-budget filmmaking, and I called in every favor that was owed to me, including a gratis HD film transfer courtesy of Continental Film Labs. The visual style, and every effect was done in-camera, to capitalize on our meager budget. We built sets, props, wardrobe, lighting rigs, camera rigs, and when principal photography began, it did so without a Gaffer. Difficult and strange was the production and thus its final music video. I love this, as it’s a smeared window into a peculiar time in my past. If I had it to do over again today, nothing would be the same, I’ve purged that deviltry - and this is all that remains. vimeo/cagexxi/arcane
