This isnt a meme, but I really wanted to post this. Read it. Its worth it :D ~GOS Girl gamers are female humans who play video games. Now before you get the wrong idea allow me to specify that I am not saying girls that game shouldn’t exist. I’m saying girl gamers shouldn’t exist, the simple concept of specifying that you are a female that plays video games. Years ago when video games first started becoming popular it was heavily male dominant but now, its about 50/50. The average person would probably tell you that most of the people that play video games are male but again, that isn’t the case. Games such as Call of Duty might be male dominant but there’s still tons of females that play the game. On the other hand in a game like League of Legends running into a female playing the game isn’t rare at all. The idea of someone playing video games and literally specifying themselves as a “girl gamer” is ridiculous. That’s like me saying “boy gamer”. Its simply the equivalent of stating your gender and adding gamer. Why does your gender matter? And why do a handful of females that play games feel the need to let everyone know their a female gamer? Lets be honest here, when someone realizes there is a girl in a COD lobby or any game lobby for the most part someone usually says something about the fact that their a female. Some gamers seem to get on these games, specify that they are a girl and do it strictly for attention. Others feel like they are annoyed by the constant swarm of male gamers going crazy over the fact that they just ran into a female that plays videos games. But, more then likely these are people that have specified their gender to people as if it matters in gaming. So lets say you are a guy and you decide to do something that is traditionally known to be a girl like thing, such as a knitter. How many boys that knit run around calling themselves a boy knitter. Probably none of them because despite being a girl or guy they are both classified as knitters. In this case the term gamer identifies both a male and female gamer. There is absolutely no reason to specify that you are a girl gamer other then to get attention. Yet I have friends that I play video games with on a regular basis that are females that have complained about being nagged about being a girl who games. The one’s complaining are the ones that show off that they are a female who games like its something that doesn’t happen. When a girl specifies that she is a female playing video games they are putting themselves in the minority simply because guys don’t call themselves boy gamers and girls who gamer are separating themselves by further classifying themselves as girl gamers rather then just gamers. I believe that a gamer is simply someone who plays video games on a regular basis, doesn’t matter what race, gender, or knowledge level of video games you have. You’re a gamer.
