This just in: Marcia Sweigert has been sworn in as DeKalbs new City Clerk. Sweigert’s appointment, which was made by DeKalb Mayor John Rey, was approved unanimously by the City Council at Monday nights meeting. Sweigert starts her duties immediately. Sweigert is an interior designer based out of DeKalb and she also has secretarial, receptionist and legal experience. The Clerk’s role is to serve the public with information and assistance. The Clerk is the local election official and keeps record of the City Code, ordinances, resolutions and other public documents. The Clerk is also responsible for recording minutes of the City Council meetings.
