This #lifelesson came about after several edits, hesitations that I am unable point a finger to any one specific reason (which I then eventually came about to know why) and lastly, shall I deem it as, interventions. As with all life’s mysteries, we only come to realize of the silver linings when we start to see it in retrospect. The meet up with my, quite literally, old school friends of Da Qiao Primary certainly showed just how far we have grown. From comparing scores in report cards to that of BTO prices of the different areas; from asking one another for answers to solve yesterday’s homework to brainstorming feasible solutions to resolve the community’s problems of tomorrow, I have nothing nothing but immense pride in each and every one of them. I also had the chance to meet with a spirited someone who has a heart of gold, and who unknowingly, shared the same sentiments as I do - that ‘everything happens for a reason’. She shared, and I echoed, the many different avenues that my community is privileged enough to take advantage of at this time and age. Yet that same notion is a double-edge sword which can potentially turn them into being taken advantage of instead. And then I fell sick. Down right, bed-ridden, ill-appetite kind of sick in the stomach which I hated to the core just because it cripples me from accomplishing the things that I had set out to do. But to my point above, ‘everything happens for a reason’. So what’s my takeaway from all these? Bear in mind I had contemplated to finish up this post from the previous week, and whether or not, the whole chain of events that happened bore an impact on the completion or otherwise. Little did I know that the delay was for me to take all in, in that chronological order no less, and reflect it back in my life. I was grateful that friendships forged eons ago, had braved the test of time. I was grateful to have been given answers to my deepest doubts through the mouths of strangers whom I am only meeting for the first time. I was grateful for my significant other who took great care of me given my predicaments. I was grateful to have heard her recite the Tashahhud and Fateha after receiving glowing reviews from the Ustazah for being a fast learner. I was grateful to have been screened this video in last week’s class, which encapsulated my #lifelesson in totality: youtube/watch?v=oHv6vTKD6lg And after witnessing todays accident, I was definitely grateful to have lived yet another day to make a difference. :)
