This little girl is now only 59 years old. This wasnt that long ago. Hate is a poison. No one can tell me that people, generally speaking, are good. An entire nation subjugated a people, first as slaves, then under Jim Crow laws for roughly 349 years, and much more subtly thereafter. Hate was spewed by regular, everyday people who thought of themselves as good, decent Americans. Racism is a grown-up disease and we must stop using our children to spread it. ~ Ruby Bridges
