This looks like it will be a good Doco.Shame about the subject matter. The film starts with the scene of early efforts to contain the nuclear disaster and a recent short visit to Namie, the town that hosts the Daiichi plant, by a former resident. Then it travels to the U.S. and goes back and forth across Pacific juxtaposing scenes of nuclear disasters in the past and the present. One of its focus is on the Simi Valley nuclear accident in Southern California in 1959, in which a reactor at a U.S. federal government research facility suffered a partial meltdown. The public was unaware of the accident for decades and there is still little information about what exactly happened or how radioactive contamination spread. The film shows a meeting held in December 2012 meant to answer residents’ questions. Some cancer patients asked if their illness has anything to do with the contamination, but the government officials continuously said it would be difficult to prove. with Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO)
