This made my cry, in the best way possible. Even though I have been taking clients (really just Miss E and a few others here and there) and practicing since 2010, I didnt really hit the ground running until I graduated college in 2013--which only puts me at a little over 1 year of experience. I cannot tell you how many photography forums I am a part of where artists like me get called weekend warriors or shoot and burners. These are meant to be degrading terms, a weekend warrior only works on weekends because they dont have a large enough clientele to work full time and the shoot and burner is said to be ruining the integrity of the business because we dont sell prints, we sell digital images. And god forbid if I ask a question about equipment and I dont know what some of the language means, then Im shamed for even having a camera what so ever...yeah, you get the point. Its a very closed community, which makes my heart very sad. Which is why articles like this are so important. And why, as Ive gained momentum, I had tried my best to lend my knowledge and friendship to photographers who will accept it, which is mostly people are are in the beginning chapters of their journey just like me. I hope we can start a new trend of an open community. We are all artists and I am positive that there is room for all of our art here.
