This may be a long one but important to me. Sunday Pastor Kindred gave a wonderful sermon on Ephesian 5: 21-31 on how a husband and a wife are to love each other. It was very good and thought provoking (a good sign of a good sermon :-) ) Later when I was reviewing the scripture because it was so good I finished with verses 31-33 and they just stood out to me. It says for husbands to LOVE their wives but doesnt say for wives to love their husbands but to give reverence to them. NOW this is just my thoughts so think on it yourselves. I think it says for husbands to but not woman because if a man loves his wife as Christ loved the church, she will automatically love him in return but it goes a step further and tells her to give reverence to him in return. I have put the meaning of reverence below. When you respect, admire, honor and appreciate your husband you lift him up and give him cause to love you. He is told to Love his wife as Christ loves the church and she is told to reverence him as we are to give reverence to the Lord. I know when I show Mark or tell him how much I appreciate how hard he works for our family and lift him up with how I think he does wonderful work I can see his shoulders lift after a hard day and his head come up. In return I usually get a smile, kiss or an I love you but I notice how our time together is closer and I feel his love. It may not seem much to others but it sure hit homw with me. Thank you Pastor for a sermon that has kept me thinking on Gods word even after I left and got me searching and hungry for more. God bless you and your heart for God and His word.
