This may sound strange but when I look at the world leaders today - TopicsExpress

This may sound strange but when I look at the world leaders today the ones who stand out are not the ones who are thought of as great leaders in fact they are being maligned as tyrants and dictators. What I find impressive about these maligned leaders is their protection of their boarders, the assertiveness of their authority and the ability to act on an issue without world approval. They are only concerned about THEIR country and could careless what happens to other countries. Here in America our government has evolved from statesman to career politician to imperial emperor. It is amazing the total disregard that elected leaders of Congress have towards the Constitution. They all have taken an oath to uphold our Constitution but forget the oath. The problem is that oath is only a formality to start their career in politics. The Statesmen in politics is gone. It is that part of history in America that we only talk about and long to see again. This loss of integrity is the reason we no longer have Statesmen serving in the American Congress. To define a Statesman is a leader with a disregard for his own personal concerns and a promoter of the public good. He does not govern by public opinion polls but on a morality of what is right for his country. His decisions are based on what is for the common good of the people he represents. The position he holds is not for his own personal pleasure or financial gain. Politicians today are seeking a career in which they can make their fortunes. Today’s politicians are not serving the common good of the people they represent. They have all the trappings and trimmings of power, public image, and financial gain. Our president today has changed the office of the president to a distorted imperial position of power and authority. (He has a pen and a phone.) When I was born Harry S. Truman was the president. His lifestyle and the way he conducted himself in the office of the President was a far cry from how Obama conducts himself. Harry Truman was a common man and his tastes were not on the grand and excessive side. He would take an evening stroll on the streets of Washington D.C.—alone, and when his presidency was over actually drove himself and wife Bess back to Independence, Missouri and moved into a house his wife had inherited from her parents. He was a very modest man who had the common interest of the people at heart. Today, the notion of the common good for the people is not a thought in the minds of the present President or elected members to Congress. Many are so disconnected from the everyday reality of the common working man and woman that they cannot relate to the struggles of the American people. Just recently the wife of the President made a trip to China she took a support staff of 70 people as well as her daughters. It was a family holiday, with their personal “servants”. They stayed in a five-star hotel at the cost of $8,400 per night. It included 3,445 square feet of living space, bar, sauna, private gym and a butler on call 24 hours. But then the Obama’s spent $100 MILLION on the African trip, $5 MILLION on a two-day trip to Ireland, and over $7 MILLION on flight expenses for 2013 for three trips to go on vacation. That is a far cry from a stroll down the streets of Washington D.C. This is not the lifestyle of a Statesman but that of an imperial leader. As an American taxpayer I would rather my money go to help put the 20 million unemployed workers back to work! I for one am tired of our elected leaders acting and living like a privileged class at the expense of the American taxpayer. Looking around the world today where are those who follow the moral compass and believe in a sense of right and wrong? It is true that to get into a position of power the Statesman must be ambitious but he will be a man of integrity, he speaks the truth. He will lead by moral authority and represent what is best for his own countrymen. I am bothered by the politicians that are more concerned about countries other than America. It should bother every red- blooded American that our politicians can find money to send to countries like Ukraine, Egypt and Libya who end up hating us and wanting us out of their country. Where is the sense in all this? The old saying follow the money may be the reason. Who is giving these politicians money to support causes in other countries? The Statesman is one which represents what is best for his own countrymen, not some other country. A Statesman can win the hearts of his countrymen by his actions. The politician needs propaganda, fear, and control to beat their countrymen into submission—the tools of a tyrant. Because of the integrity of the Statesman people listen and believe. The politician bases his speech on lies and promises that cannot be fulfilled. It is a sad day in the history of this country when the President of the United States is given the Liar of the Year Award. Obama ran on the platform of “transparency” and has become the most secret administration in the history of our country. The administration is plagued with scandals and cover-ups. The promises made during the campaign have long been forgotten. Obama has gone from a politician to tyrant with an emperor complex. His actions speak volumes. He has changed America from the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, to a Land Oppressed and the Home of the Fearful. A Statesman allows for the free expression of ideas and debates the issues of the day. The politician controls the expression of ideas and ridicules those who would question his motives. The politician limits liberty and freedom by passing laws that infringes on the rights of his countrymen. It is the politician that will support laws that suppress liberty because the special interest groups make them wealthy-- not the voters. The first interest of the politician is to be re-elected at any cost. They sell their souls to the highest bidders. Check the contributions made to the politician and you can see who will have the greatest influence. We need men who will have the common good of their countrymen at heart to lead us today. Examine the actions of those in Congress, the State’s General Assembly, the County offices of government, and the Local offices of government and ask those who are representing you if they have the common interest of their countrymen at heart? Then ask them to explain how? If they can’t dont support them.
