This message by Pastor Russ, titled Unbalanced, was on Page 1 of Pleasant Valleys weekly newsletter. Its worth repeating here... Recently my bride was doing laundry when it became readily apparent that the load became unbalanced. Within seconds, the washing machine quickly began to rock and pound violently to the point it that it sounded like the whole house was going to fall apart. Immediately I darted up the stairs and turned off the machine. I rearranged the load to evenly distribute the weight and continued the cycle. It is amazing that a machine like that can make such a racket! During the spin cycle, a standard washing machine can typically spin anywhere between 800 and 1600 revolutions per minute. I don’t know about you, but this reminds me of how my life can get some times - spinning out of balance and creating lots of racket. In our day and age, our life can get filled up very quickly with tasks on the job, in the home, at the church and with the family. We often find ourselves spinning faster and faster to keep up with the dizzying pace of life. Quickly we find ourselves so full that adding one more thing can create an unbalance. And for some of us, one particular area of our life grows to the point that it creates a significant wobble and a lot of unnecessary noise. You and I can avoid an unbalanced life when we follow Jesus’ simple command: Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33 NLT)” Take an inventory and ask yourself what’s first in your life. There are limitless things to add to your life, so only do what the Lord is leading you to do. The next time you feel like things are getting unbalanced, stop the spinning, remove what doesnt belong and move forward in what God has placed before you and rest assured that he will take care of everything else.
