This message from a mother in our community who is also mourning the loss of her Son touched my heart beyond words. via Luann Corby (who lost her Son, TJ, in December 2013) posted to Mark Piburn I am praying for your strength and Gods healing for you and Judi. I do know the depth of your pain. It is a blessing to know that some words may help to heal others or offer just a moment of peace. The object of grieving is not to get over the loss or recover from the loss but to get through the loss, I suppose that over the years we will look back and discover that this grief keeps teaching us new things about life. Tear Soup is a wonderful book I just read-- highly recommend! It says that: At the beginning when we take a sip of the broth all we taste is the bitter taste of salt from all our teardrops, but this is where we have to start. For now that is the only thing on the menu. Some days when youre making tear soup its even hard to breathe. Some days you feel like running away. You just hope a better day comes along soon. And then comes one of the hardest parts of making tear soup, Its when you decide it may be okay to eat something instead of soup all the time.
