This message is for a young man, Doug Hape: Hey Doug, remember me? We had never met until you brought your dog to me some months ago. It had been hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. It was a Sunday, remember? No vets available in Granada, so we put your dog in the back of my truck and high-tailed it to a clinic in Managua that is open around-the-clock. Unfortunately the verdict was that the dogs leg would need to be amputated. We waited for 2-plus hours for the surgery to be done and for your dog to awaken from anesthesia. We were ready to roll, but the only thing holding us back was that a bill needed to be settled.Fifty dollars for the surgery. You had no money with you, so I offered my American Express Card to LOAN YOU THE MONEY. Perhaps you and I use different definitions for the word loan. Whatever. All I know is I havent seen a cordoba of your $50 debt, nor have I heard mention of any plan to repay it. You know, Doug, I find this rather incongruous with what you shared with me en route to the clinic and back home again. ...that your family has had great financial success in purchasing and selling property in Granada. (And in the Carribean if I remember correctly1) The numbers you quoted were quite impressive. Lets just say that paying a $50 vet bill would be a drop in the proverbial bucket and hardly missed by anyone in the Hape Clan. So perhaps the next time that an interest check arrives for one of your familys ingenious investments, you could part with a mere $50 to pay your very overdue bill. Feel free to add interest to that. You can bet there will be another dog with a broken leg brought to my door needing veterinary care, just as your dog did. Lets make the next one on you! To make it easy, just use Donna Tabor PayPal.
