This might raise a shit-storm but I feel it should be discussed at least. And this is not a personal statement against anyone or any band but it is something that does need a second thought IMHO. Is it okay to nominate people for best drummer awards when the drums have been programmed? Given that the awards are unbiased and based on simply listening to bands based on their recording and not taking into account their ability to play live or anything else. Is it right/fair? Is it a practice that should be done away with? Does it not insult the drummers who play live in the studio? What if guitar players program guitar parts, would they still be eligible for best guitarist? Or what if guitar players play bass parts but list the bassist for best bassist award? Where do we draw the lines? Open for discussion and debate.
