This morning I had the privilege of going to my little brother - TopicsExpress

This morning I had the privilege of going to my little brother Prestons elementary school and singing for his class. I sang a couple songs and answered some questions that the kids had, and hearing them sing along and show me their love for music was amazing. Well, one thing stuck out in my mind: There was one little girl in the back of the class that was really into the performance. She knew all the words to the songs, and even guessed which songs I was singing as I played the guitar intro. She told me in front of the class that she wrote songs too, and wanted to grow up to be a famous singer one day. I told her that I believe in her, and strongly advised that she practice and work hard because I want her to make it. At the end of the class, Prestons teacher lined them all up to get lunch and a bunch of them ran up and asked me to sign the cards I had given them. Well, that one little girl came up to me after I was done and as everyone else was leaving and said, thank you so much for encouraging me and my music. I needed that. And then she hugged me. When I was a kid, the only encouragement I received was from family members, teachers, and complete strangers. The kids I went to school with never cared about my music and I was always that annoying kid in class that wouldnt stop singing. Well, seeing that little girl today reminded me so much of myself, and it really strongly impacted me. As much as I love singing and performing for myself, its times like this when I realize that impacting and encouraging another person with my music is so much more rewarding. This was an experience Ill hold with me as long as I live, and I only hope that I can positively influence more people with my music in the future.
