This morning I read about a young girl, 29 years old and obviously distraught, confused and depressed, who tried to adopt her unwanted 3-year-old son using a Craigslist ad. Of course there are legal procedures if you choose to adopt out your unwanted child. I also found a story on the same page about a 22-year-old mother who tried to sell her two children on a Facebook auction. Both girls have been charged, one with a misdemeanor that could be upgraded and the other with attempting to traffic in minors, probably a felony. A sociopolitical system that criminalizes mental illness is itself mentally ill.
