This morning I reread Truman Capotes A Christmas Memory. I shed a tear at the end of it as always. Nowadays I remember Toms great-aunts, who lived in rural Alabama in a house as sprawling and full of mysterious history as the one described. I had to tell Christina the story of Joe Fuller and how the leg hed made for himself after the Civil War hung over their door in a place of honor, and how he lost that limb.
