This morning I served as Eucharistic Minister at the 8:00 am Easter mass. Usually, this mass has the least amount of people, probably filling up one-third of the church. Of course, since it was Easter, the church was packed (with a lot of people who only go to church twice a year.) For those of you who are not Catholic, the communion host can either be taken by my putting the host on the persons tongue or by placing it in ones hand as they put their hands in a cupped position with one hand under the other. The person also says Amen. Well, today as I tried to act most reverently, I had to suppress my emotions as I had some surprises. Some people just put their hands up, and I tried to place the host in it so that it wouldnt fall on the floor. Some didnt say Amen. One young girl grabbed the host out of my hand as I held it up! Here is the best one, though. A young boy, who was obviously not old enough to take communion, was in front of his mother. He folded his hands as if he were praying, and he stuck out his tongue! I cant tell you how hard it was for me not to stick out my tongue in return! My day started out with fun at church!
