This morning I thought that maybe we all could use a little pause, - TopicsExpress

This morning I thought that maybe we all could use a little pause, ….a time of deep thought and reflection. There are “wars and rumors of wars”, hunger, famine and death and to top it all off…facebook keeps trying to herd me into a corral called, “Messenger” (sounds like the title of a Sci Fi movie). No, thank you I will not be linking myself up with a big satellite so that my every whim and wish can be documented and sold to a marketer in Pakistan. What if the NSA taps my phone and they proclaim me too boring and not “watch worthy” (a fate worse than death in this day of instant fame). But rather than allow those thoughts to permeate our Psychi’s and ruin our day, let’s look to the classics to clear away the “fog of war” in this crazy battle we call life. This morning I submit the touching words of a troubadour, truth held aloft with a musical strain…a thought that when digested will saturate the palate like a chaw of Days Work (my grand dads favorite). I submit to you my friends, a classic song from the group, Free and their anthem, All Right Now. Little did Andy Fraser know that his fumbling word play in the dressing room would become not only the “closing” song they needed for their concert but a snapshot of life. Today the words, “slow, don’t go so fast, don’t you think that love can last” followed by the response of “love, Lord above, now you’re gonna trick me in love”…seems ever so appropriate. Every day we are bombarded by someone else who wants to make their presentation as three dimensional as a little computer screen (or big screen T.V.) can make it. Sharon and I bought a large television a few years ago that has the 3D option with the glasses…it really only makes it look real if you watch some fish or a video of someone snowboarding….cause 3D doesn’t make bad acting and crummy storylines any better. The fact is that no matter how “personal” we try to make life…it really has to be in person…and a sales pitch,…no matter how many times the word “love” is used is still just a sales pitch. I do not want to become the skeptical, pessimistic writer who simply makes snarky comments about the world until the end of my days. We already have enough of those who spend their time proclaiming that all things sacred are just another example of “the Kings new clothes”. Although it is true that “life is a b*tch and then you die”…there are moments between the beginning and the end (the b*tchy part) that we succeed and fail, we laugh and cry, … we love…and lose. And it is that stirring of our soul, that passionate reach for the better, … the dragging ourselves to our feet for “one more round” in the boxing ring of life that animates us….and renews that Divine spark. So keep your fake sales pitches, your “I want to help you” advertisements, and your monotone presentations….I’ll be out where real things happen in “real time” and my food comes “scattered” not “smothered and covered”… I’ll see y’all on the off ramp.
