This morning I woke up to chaos in Zululand. A call went out from Farmwatch for help at Dayspring Animal Farm their stables were on fire. Animals still trapped inside. Thank you Dave Whittaker for relaying the call to me from the Farm watch group. The response was overwhelming, I recognized faces from all over Empangeni and Richardsbay. To the Farmers and Umthlatuze Fire Dept, guys you got the water there fast. I was astounded by the response from the community. You guys are all aces. Four donkeys and three horses lost their lives in the blaze, may they head for greater meadows. To Dave, Les and Kylie Ervine, I have dealt with you guys for Four years and in that time saw that you always put your animals first. They were more like family to you and the loss you had today was a bad one. Our sincere condolences from the SPCA, it is never easy to lose a friend. - Roland.
