This morning, IMPD Officer Rod Bradway was killed in the line of duty. He was called to the scene of a domestic dispute. Upon hearing screams for help, Officer Bradway valiantly entered the home where both he and the suspect were fatally wounded. Officer Bradway gave the full measure of devotion for his city. A city that, he knew and all of us know, can do better. In selflessly giving his life, Officer Bradway saved another. Officer Bradway is survived by his wife and two children. We are at a crossroad in our society. The incident this morning, the 11 people shot in Chicago last night, the four shootings in two hours Wednesday night in Indianapolis, the Naval Yard shooting on Monday, the child shot in its stroller in New York earlier this month, and countless other incidents have led us to ask this question: Are we satisfied with the status quo, do we continue to ask better of our society, or do we demand it?
