This morning I’m proud to announce once again that the books are - TopicsExpress

This morning I’m proud to announce once again that the books are in the hands of my publisher and I will be headed her way in a short while to pick them up and start, “signing and sending” them to all you wonderful folks who ordered a copy. As with everything I have written,….I don’t like it. I wish it was ten times longer so that there could be more photos but in order to do that I would have had to wait another six months while more things were rescued and restored. No the book is here and full of photos from the work to date to show that the Tara façade does still exist and is now being restored and presented to the public. And you folks who are buying the book are helping to get out the word and show in a tangible way that this is important. I would love to come to your part of the world and tell the story of the Tara façade and its restoration. I would love to share the Gone With the Wind story and how it all fits together from the real history to the book and then the movie. I would love to encourage your group to take a stand for what they believe and to not be afraid (at any age or financial position) to take on the project that is near to their heart. And I would like to remind them that anything can be accomplished with a group of volunteers and….a few BLT’s (bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches, …the lunch I provided for the volunteers). So contact me and let’s talk about my coming to your location…or you come to mine. Just send me a private message. For todays “throw back Thursday” I submit a photo of the volunteers who have made a great “dent” in this project (that’s a good thing). They have shown up and worked to sort, re-tag and clean this ever dusty dairy barn and they have spent little time complaining and a lot of time laughing. On the way to meet them at last week’s work day Sharon said, “I love these people”. I of course just grunted and made some statement about how little they actually do and how they could be replaced with a herd of squirrels (I have to keep up that tough outer shell)…but truthfully I love them too. Cause their help and encouragement has made this project successful and if we never do one more thing we have, in the words of the façades owner, “done more than any and all of the others combined”. There is more to do and more battles to fight. The Tara façade project is not completed and we still have to provide a way to view the Fitzgerald House also so that the three buildings can work together to tell the whole story. The facebook site has gone from my goal of 750 friends to just a few shy of 4,000 and there are more requests coming in from around the world for interviews and photos. I will be getting a crew together to begin shooting more video of the Saving Tara Project so that those of you who may never get to Georgia in the USA you can still view the old girl via video. And lastly I will be putting together a link for my friends across the waves to order the book (just have to add a little more for the postage) so that you too can have copies for your participation has been just as vital. Thanks once again for all your help and encouragement…there will be more for us all to enjoy and talk about…but today I’ve got to clean up and go get those books. But rest assured that later in the day I will be remembering and celebrating with Buddy up at the gate. Peter
