This morning a sweet little lady had her birthday. Several of us signed a card and I put a $5 bill inside it. In return I got several hugs, many, many thank yous from her, and a hand made card (which Shauna Parker is supposed to share with me. HA!). Her momma is in recovery and as a graduate is doing exceptionally well. Next week this little lady will be Baptized as she and her momma join the church. Birthdays are very special. I always loved mine. Of course having a 4th of July Birthday added to the special time each year. But I do remember how excited I would get as that special day approached. There is just something very special and important about your birthday no matter how you celebrate yours. And so, when I think about the birth of our Savior that first Christmas over 2000 years ago, I cannot help but remember that on the day I said Yes Lord, I believe, and accept Jesus Christ as my savior, that I was born anew into a life that if filled with such potential and love that I am richer than money will ever make me. Each time I have an experience like this morning, I know the presence of that wealth, that richness that is Christs birthday gift to all peoples of all nations who are willing to let the Holy Spirit in to guide their lives. 1 Peter 1:23 New Revised Standard Version says; You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. May you receive your birthday gift in Christ Jesus, that you may live in peace and you each day of your reborn life. Remember that God loves you and so do I, and all you can do about it is love back!
