This morning at work, my coworkers, our supervisors and I answered our “Ice Bucket Challenge” nomination to help raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. At 0800 this morning, the on-coming and off-going shifts of Aberdeen Proving Ground’s (APG) Fire and Emergency Services Division got together between Truck 12 and Engine 1212 to foolishly allow Fire Inspector Ernie Little to dump about fifty pounds of ice and approximately one hundred gallons of water on us. The twenty or so APG first responders taking part in this challenge consist of a wide sample of personnel from every division within the department; included were staff personnel from the Operations Divisions (Firefighters and Fire Captains), Division of Emergency Medical Services (Paramedics), the Assistant Chief and Battalion Chief of APGs Fire and Emergency Service Training Division, and at least one person from each of the department’s chief officers administration (Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chiefs, and Battalion Chiefs); as well, every available Fire Inspector from the APG’s Fire Prevention Division took part in this charity event. *One Love~!
