This morning before I stepped out for my walk it was raining and it reminded me of the large earthworms which comes out when their beds are waterlogged. In Tower park – Annanagar, ( Chennai) when it rains, I used to see the sad sight of these poor earth friendly annelids being crushed under shoes of the ignorant and careless walkers who see nothing beneath but just speed thru . Moreover, at 5 AM and in the darkness one cannot expect everyone to notice these poor helpless creatures before they put their step. Those are quite large and each almost a foot long! I decided to save a few today and went prepared with a plastic bag and collected these and added them to my vermicompost bag which digests my plant waste from my terrace and kitchen. I feel many of us should do this.. this is indeed an easy way to get earthworms for vermicomposting!
